Bassist T-Bone Wolk Dies

Tom "T-Bone" Wolk, who served as the bassist for Hall and Oates during their heyday in the 1980's, died on Saturday (Feb. 27th) from an apparent heart attack at the age of 58.

Wolk was also a prominent multi-instrumentalist, having worked and performed with such artists as Billy Joel, Robert Palmer, Paul Carrack, Cyndi Lauper, Jellyfish, Elvis Costello and Shawn Colvin, and more during his career.

He gained the attention of Hall and Oates, whom he performed with for over 20 years, for his work on Kurtis Blow's rap single "These Are the Breaks in 1981. Shortly thereafter Wolk found himself helping record Hall & Oate' smash album, Private Eyes, and subsequently came to be the group's musical director.

Wolk also performed on the set of late night comedy show Saturday Night Live, during the years when G.E. Smith served as the musical director on the show. (Smith had previously served as lead guitarist in Hall & Oates).

Wolk was actively performing up until the time of his death, and was playing with Hall and Oates in support of their box set, Do What You Want, Be What You Are.
