"You're So Vain" Suspect Still At Large
The recent reports that surfaced which named the subject of Carly Simon's "You're So Vain" to be David Geffen have been debunked, leaving the nagging mystery intact for the time being.
For years there has been speculation that the song is "actually" about Warren Beatty, Cat Stevens, Comedian David Steinberg or even the aforementioned Geffen. However, the remastered version of "You're So Vain" which had a whispered voice uttering "David" has also been found to feature a voice whispering "Warren."
Now, Iris Records, who issued Never Been Gone, the album it was released on, are holding a video submission contest for the classic tune, with the winner receiving a meet & greet with Simon. Plus, their video will be screened at New York's Tribeca Film Festival and online at Spinner's website.
